Fox News ·

The New York Giants are benching Jameis Winston and will start J.J. McCarthy against the Houston Texans on Sunday, according to ESPN. The move comes less than a month after the team acquired McCarthy from Minnesota and gives the 23-year-old a chance to help the Giants pursue a playoff place.

His fourth-quarter passing total was the highest by any player this season and the second-highest by a non-starting quarterback in 25 years, according to NFL Network.
