Dublin's Gilla Band are returning with a new album titled 'Pugnello' following a four-year gap in releases. The group signalled their comeback with the May single 'Giraffe' and has now unveiled another track, 'Placeholder,' that demonstrates a heavier, electronics-focused sonic direction. Bassist Daniel Fox served as recording and mixing engineer for the forthcoming LP, which arrives September 25 through Rough Trade Records.

The new single 'Placeholder' combines thumping electronic production with the band's trademark abrasive vocal delivery and distorted instrumentation. Frontman Dara Kiely describes the composition as an exploration of personal psychological patterns and childhood-rooted escape mechanisms, incorporating references to nostalgia-tinged cultural touchstones including television shows, superhero franchises, and classic pop culture figures. The ten-track album includes the May single alongside unreleased material.
