GINGER Says He Has Already Written Songs For THE WILDHEARTS’ Follow-Up To Upcoming ‘Northern Spirit’ Album

Ginger, frontman of English rock band The Wildhearts, has revealed he has already written a follow-up album despite the band's next record, "Northern Spirit", not yet being released. Speaking to Eonmusic, he said the writing process had already moved beyond the forthcoming record, underlining his prolific creative output even as he continues to promote the band amid a difficult personal period.

"Northern Spirit" is due for release in October 2026 and explores themes of pride and regional identity, drawing on Ginger's connection to Newcastle and Scotland. He shared several song titles from the album, including "Motherfucker In The Sky", "Just Make It To Bedtime" and the title track, which he described as having "the ugliest riff" paired with a joyous chorus. Among tracks already written for the unannounced next album is "Stories", inspired by the idea that a person's experiences form the story they leave behind. The news follows Ginger's recent disclosure that he has been given three years to live after being diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
