Four girls aged 12 to 17 and an 18-year-old woman were arrested after police witnessed a fight at Northland Shopping Centre in Preston, north-east Melbourne. A knife was allegedly produced during the affray, prompting police to seize it, while detectives continue investigating the circumstances.

The incident occurred at about 6.20pm on Friday during a police patrol of the food court. The 14-year-old and 12-year-old suffered minor injuries; the former was taken to hospital, while the younger girl was treated by paramedics and released. The 18-year-old and two of the teenagers are expected to face charges by summons, while police are seeking witnesses, footage and further information.
