Glasgvegas return with the anthemic ‘Degüello’ and tell us about first album in six years, ‘Airy Fairy’
Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
New details from Glasvegas’ interview centre on frontman James Allan’s happier life in Glasgow with his family and his renewed focus on making music. He says the band worked together more enjoyably on their fifth album, ‘Airy Fairy’, after frustrations with the engineering process on 2021’s ‘Godspeed’.
The band have shared ‘Degüello’, their first new music in six years, ahead of the album’s release on 2 April and an 11-date UK and Ireland tour. Allan describes the song as a personal attempt to move beyond bad moods and temper, while guitarist Rab Allan suggested it as the lead single; James hopes listeners will find meaning in the songs, which he says grew from everyday thoughts, images and words.

Explained simply
Glasvegas are a Scottish rock band from Glasgow, formed in the early 2000s. They are known for songs that combine loud guitars with James Allan’s distinctive vocals; James is the band’s singer and songwriter, while Rab Allan plays guitar.
The band’s fifth album, Airy Fairy, follows Godspeed, released in 2021. James Allan has said the new songs grew from everyday observations and from a wish to enjoy making music together again. Degüello is the first single from the album, whose title phrase James once saw negatively but now regards as part of himself.
