Irish songwriter Glen Hansard has died at the age of 56 following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash at Strawberry Beds, Lucan, according to BBC reports. His death was confirmed by his team at ATC Management, who said they were "still dealing with the shock" and asked for privacy for his family, colleagues and friends at this difficult time.

Hansard rose to prominence in Dublin's music scene as frontman and lead songwriter of indie rock band The Frames, releasing six albums with the group before moving into a more folk-influenced solo career, including a track for the Bob Dylan biopic "I'm Not There". His 2012 album "Rhythm And Repose" was widely acclaimed, and he went on to release four further studio albums, most recently 2023's "All That Was East Is West Of Me Now". Tributes have poured in from figures including The Waterboys' Mike Scott, who noted Hansard leaves behind a wife and three-year-old child, and actress Rachel Zegler.
