Global Citizen Festival has been cancelled for the first time in 14 years due to dangerous weather conditions forecast for New York City. The event, scheduled for Saturday at Central Park's Great Lawn, would have featured performances from major artists including Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz and John Legend, with Hugh Jackman as host. Organisers determined that the predicted extreme weather made it unsafe to bring tens of thousands of attendees, artists, crew and equipment to the venue. The decision reflects the festival's priority to ensure public safety over proceeding with the event.

Attendees who purchased tickets will receive automatic refunds, whilst those who acquired tickets through donations will be offered options via email. Food provisioned for the festival will be donated to local organisations in New York City. The cancellation came as another major event, the three-day All Things Go NYC Festival, was similarly cancelled just hours before opening on Friday due to the same severe weather conditions affecting the city.
