Globo, a major Brazilian media company, has sold a television series to the BBC. The show, called "Blood Red – Under the Moonlight", will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three. This marks the first time one of Globo's streaming shows has been licensed to the BBC.

The series is a half-hour teen drama featuring supernatural elements including werewolves and vampires caught in a romantic triangle. It is set in the forested hills of Minas Gerais, a region of Brazil, and targets younger viewers with a mix of fantasy and romance.

The deal signals Globo's ambitions to expand beyond selling content only within Brazil. Globo announced the agreement at Mipcom, an annual marketplace where television companies from around the world negotiate deals, and is simultaneously securing partnerships with broadcasters in Portugal, Turkey and Greece.
