Feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who died on 2 September 2026 at her New York home aged 92, will feature in a posthumous interview airing on Netflix's "Famous Last Words". The series records candid conversations with notable figures in private, releasing them only after the subject's death, and Steinem's episode makes her the third person to appear following Jane Goodall and Eric Dane. The release matters as one of the final opportunities to hear directly from a figure who shaped modern feminism, offering her own reflections on her life and legacy in her own words.

The interview, conducted by host and executive producer Brad Falchuk in February 2025, covers Steinem's views on the shared origins of sex and race caste systems, Indigenous cultures, and cross-border organising for equality, alongside more personal reflections on love, family, feminist movement politics and regrets. Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine and the Women's Action Alliance, wrote several books including the 2015 memoir "My Life on the Road", and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2013. Although this will be her final released interview, it was not technically her last public appearance — Audible is set to release recordings of two live events with Steinem from July 2026, held at New York's Minetta Lane Theatre, on 17 September.
