Ryan Hurst, who had been cast as Kratos in Amazon’s God of War television adaptation, is reportedly being replaced after sustaining a serious injury during a stunt. The recasting is significant because the role is central to the physically demanding series, and footage already filmed will reportedly need to be redone.

TMZ reported that Hurst tore a bicep, requiring surgery and an extended recovery that may last into 2027. Production, which began in March and had reportedly completed four episodes, has been paused; Deadline sources say filming is hoped to resume in mid-October, although Amazon and Sony have not commented.
