‘God of War’ Star Takes a Shot at Studios That Don’t Respect Their Fans [Exclusive]

Collider · 2 hours ago

Christopher Judge, who voices Kratos in the modern God of War games, praised Santa Monica Studio for reportedly remaking the original Greek trilogy and for bringing back former actor TC Carson. He said the decision demonstrates respect for the people and fan support that helped establish the series, contrasting it with studios he believes do not value their audiences.

Judge spoke at Fan Expo Boston, recalling the initially mixed reaction to his casting and acknowledging Carson’s role in defining Kratos. The original 2005 PlayStation 2 game launched Kratos’s revenge story against Ares, while the 2018 reboot shifted the series to Norse mythology and a father-son story with Atreus; Judge said revisiting the earlier games could introduce them to a new audience.

  • Judge praises reported Greek trilogy remake and TC Carson’s return.
  • He credits Carson with helping make Kratos an icon.
  • He says studios should respect fans and creative contributors.

God of War is a long-running PlayStation action game series centred on Kratos, a Spartan warrior from Greek mythology. The first game was released in 2005 and began a story of revenge involving the god Ares, followed by two main sequels set in the same world.

TC Carson provided Kratos’s voice in the original Greek-era games, helping establish the character’s early identity. Christopher Judge took over the role for God of War in 2018, which moved the story into Norse mythology and focused more on Kratos’s relationship with his son, Atreus.

Santa Monica Studio is the PlayStation-owned developer behind the series. A return to the earlier games would matter to fans because it could preserve and reintroduce a major part of the franchise’s history, while linking the work of both actors who have played Kratos.
