Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television are recasting Kratos in Prime Video’s God of War adaptation after Ryan Hurst suffered a serious injury while filming. The change disrupts a production already under way and may require scenes to be reshot, potentially affecting the planned schedule for a major game-to-screen adaptation.

Hurst reportedly tore a bicep during a stunt in late June after gaining 40lb of muscle for the role, then underwent surgery. His recovery could take four to six months, with full strength possibly taking up to a year, so filming is expected to resume in mid-October with a new lead actor; no replacement has been announced.
