Goddess of Victory: Nikke’s PC launcher suffers potential malware infection, with its publishers suggesting folks who’ve booted since late September do a security check
Level Infinite says some files in the Windows PC launcher for Goddess of Victory: Nikke were altered by a third party, potentially allowing malware to run when the launcher opened. The launcher has since been patched, but players who used it during the affected period are being urged to check their devices because PCs and account information may have been exposed.
The advice applies to anyone who launched the game after 15:41 UTC+9 on 27 September. Players can use a new scanning feature in the official client or run a manual security check, then change passwords used on that PC and replace any API keys or access tokens. The publishers say they are investigating the extent of the incident and plan to strengthen file checks, monitoring and launcher permissions.
In short
- Nikke’s PC launcher files were tampered with.
- Players who launched it after 27 September should check their devices.
- Change relevant passwords, API keys and access tokens.
