Godzilla Is Officially Bringing a Brand-New Kaiju to Live Action

Toho has chosen Xenolhu, an extradimensional creature, to face Godzilla in a future live-action Fest Godzilla short. The result follows a fan vote among eight newly designed monsters, giving an unfamiliar kaiju a chance to become Godzilla’s next challenger.

Xenolhu won the final round with 16,850 votes, ahead of mechanical contender Sagius on 14,649. The short is planned for 2027 or later and will use the Fest Godzilla series’ mix of monster suits, miniatures and practical effects; Toho says the design and character details may change, and has not set a premiere date.
