Godzilla is a giant monster at the centre of a long-running Japanese film series made by Toho. The previous film, Godzilla Minus One, was directed by Takashi Yamazaki and followed survivors trying to rebuild their lives in Japan after the Second World War.
The sequel returns to post-war Japan in 1949 and continues the story of the Shikishima family as the country rebuilds. Its Japanese production and planned Imax release are part of a wider effort to bring the film to cinema audiences in Japan and overseas.
