Director Takashi Yamazaki's much-anticipated follow-up to the Academy Award-winning 'Godzilla Minus One' will make its world premiere at the New York Film Festival next month, with Yamazaki and key cast and crew members attending the event. The original film became a critical and commercial triumph, earning the Oscar for Best Visual Effects and generating $116 million in worldwide box office revenue despite its constrained budget, revitalising a franchise that stretches back decades.

The sequel resumes the story of the Shikishima family in post-1947 Japan, picking up in 1949 with new challenges and tensions. Yamazaki, an influential Japanese filmmaker known for innovative visual effects work, will continue to demonstrate that the classic monster franchise remains viable for contemporary storytelling. The film arrives in North American cinemas in November, just three days after its Japanese release, positioning it as a major international event for both the director's fanbase and mainstream audiences.
