A GoFundMe campaign set up to help L7 bassist Jennifer Finch pay for treatment of an aggressive brain cancer has smashed through its target within days, boosted by generous donations from fellow musicians and hundreds of smaller contributions from fans. The outpouring reflects the deep affection Finch commands within the rock community, with organisers saying the funds will let her receive care at home surrounded by loved ones.

The campaign had an initial goal of $350,000 (£273,000) but had raised nearly $365,000 (£284,500) at the time of writing, with money earmarked for in-home nursing, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment and completing an unnamed creative project due for release next year. Donors included Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz and his wife Gina ($10,000), Garbage ($8,000), Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna ($5,000), Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament ($5,000), Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong's wife Adrienne ($5,000), and Tool's Maynard James Keenan ($2,500), among others. Finch's illness means she will miss L7's forthcoming "Last Hurrah" farewell tour, starting 6 October in San Diego, with Tsuzumi Okai stepping in for her.
