Gold House, the entertainment advocacy platform behind the Gold Open cinema campaign and the Gold Gala, has launched a production arm called Gold House Studios to develop and produce original and IP-based film, television and digital projects. The move marks an expansion from the organisation's eight-year history of cultural campaigning, during which it helped drive over 800 cinema openings for films such as "Crazy Rich Asians" and "Everything Everywhere All At Once", into direct content-making, with a stated aim of getting Asian Pacific-led stories made and seen by mainstream audiences.

The new studio will be led by Gold House veterans Christine Yi, as head of the studio, and Brian Nemes, overseeing IP and development, both of whom will produce across the slate. Its lead title is "Akiya", a horror film starring Karen Fukuhara ("The Boys") and Robbie Amell about a couple renovating a haunted Japanese countryside house, written and directed by Austin Osanai Everett. Other projects include road-trip dramedy "This Way to Home" from Mel Mah, TV horror series "American Yokai" from "Legends of Tomorrow" showrunner Keto Shimizu, and a film adaptation of the Japanese video game "Slitterhead" by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama, alongside further unspecified IP projects and an unscripted digital series filming in New York later this year.
