Variety · 2 hours ago

Figure skater Amber Glenn, who won gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, has spoken to Variety about her huge passion for Magic: The Gathering after going viral for openly enjoying the card game during Olympic TV coverage. The Team USA athlete's visibility led Wizards of the Coast, the game's publisher, to reach out following the Games, and she is now discussing a potential partnership, including ideas for her own "Secret Lair" themed card set.

Glenn revealed she has been playing since 2022 and has amassed a collection of more than 100,000 cards, joking that many are worth "less than a cent" but that she is "huge into it". She described the game as a valued "third space" away from training and competition, comparing herself to fellow celebrity enthusiast Post Malone, who bought a unique "One Ring" Magic card for $2 million in 2023 and later released his own Secret Lair collaboration with Wizards.
