Goldenvoice is a US concert promoter best known for running Coachella, a large annual music festival in California’s desert, and the country music festival Stagecoach. It stages live events and works with artists, venues and local authorities to organise them.

Santa Monica is a coastal city next to Los Angeles, known for its beach and pier. A festival there would bring a large temporary music event to a busy urban beachfront area, rather than to the desert sites used by Goldenvoice’s best-known festivals.

The Killers and Jack White are established rock acts, while Olivia Dean is a British singer whose profile has risen in recent years. The wider bill spans rock, indie, soul, electronic music and DJ performances, reflecting the mixed-genre format common at major US festivals.
