Google has indicated that the forthcoming Pixel 11 range will become more expensive, reflecting higher memory costs caused by demand from AI data centres. The move matters because it suggests Google can no longer absorb component-price rises, joining several technology firms that have passed these costs on to consumers.

Google executive Shakil Barkat said prices would be adjusted dynamically according to supply conditions. The standard Pixel 11 is expected to cost $899, but may include 256GB of storage rather than 128GB, while the Pixel 11 Pro is rumoured to reduce RAM from 16GB to 12GB; Google is due to announce the devices on 12 August.
