Google is introducing Camera Looks on its Pixel 11 phones to give users more control over the highly processed appearance of smartphone photos. The feature responds to growing demand for images that feel more natural, traditional or deliberately imperfect, rather than consistently bright, sharp and polished.

Unlike ordinary filters, Camera Looks affects decisions throughout the camera pipeline, including HDR processing, exposure, capture time and the number of frames combined. Google’s Isaac Reynolds says the system is intended to serve users with increasingly different expectations, offering styles such as Black Tie, Classic and Digi, the latter inspired by early-2000s compact digital cameras.
