Google launches real-time NFL game tracking in Search

The Verge · 1 hour ago

Google is rolling out a Live Game Feed feature in Search to provide real-time updates during NFL games, launching alongside the start of the regular season. The tool, activated via a red "Live" icon, brings together game recaps, play-by-play updates, social media commentary, video highlights and AI-generated insights in one place, reflecting Google's push to make Search a more useful companion for live sporting events.

The feature is available now on mobile in English, with support for college football games and additional languages due later this month. Search is also gaining a new mobile carousel for browsing scores across other live matches, alongside enhanced statistics tracking leaders in categories such as passing touchdowns and rushing yards, plus finer detail on sacks, fumbles and yards after catch. Users can also now link their Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper accounts to Search from today, allowing AI-generated suggestions for fantasy lineup changes without needing to upload screenshots or enter data manually.
