Google’s latest Nest thermostat drops to $219.99 across three retailers
Google’s fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat is available for $219.99 at Amazon, Best Buy and The Home Depot, a $60 discount. The price matches its best so far this year and is $10 above its all-time low, making the sale relevant to people considering a smart thermostat as the weather cools.
The thermostat learns household heating and cooling habits to set a schedule, can suggest energy-saving changes and adjusts temperatures when residents are away. It includes a remote sensor, an adaptive display showing temperature and weather information, and Matter support; it works with more heating and ventilation systems than its predecessor and usually does not need a C-wire. The article also mentions discounts on a Casio watch, Apple AirTags and a SwitchBot ceiling light.
In short
- Nest thermostat is $219.99 at three retailers.
- The $60 discount matches its best price this year.
- It includes a remote temperature sensor and energy-saving features.
Explained simply
A smart thermostat connects to a home’s heating and cooling system and can be controlled or scheduled automatically. Google’s Nest Learning Thermostat is designed to learn when people usually adjust the temperature, then use those patterns to manage the home’s climate and suggest ways to save energy.
Its remote sensor can help monitor conditions in another room, while its display shows information such as the temperature and weather. Matter support is a standard intended to help smart-home devices from different brands work together; compatibility with a home’s heating system still needs to be checked.
Thermostats can affect both comfort and energy use, especially as households begin using heating more often in colder weather. Features such as automatic scheduling and adjusting the temperature when residents are away are intended to reduce unnecessary heating or cooling.
