The fundraiser centres on Jerry, a 25-year-old TikTok creator known as Void Only, who has battled interstitial lung disease since he was 17 and now urgently needs a lung transplant, describing the coming surgery as "very bloody, very dangerous" due to the unusual severity of his condition. The story has resonated widely with the gaming community, who have flooded him with messages of support and financial help.

Jerry's parent, Paris Fort, set up a GoFundMe page with an initial target of $15,000 to help the family through the year, but donations have since surged past $53,000 after Jerry's update videos amassed millions of views. The extra funds are expected to help cover both the cost of the transplant and a potentially lengthy recovery. Jerry has said that if he pulls through, he plans to stream GTA 6 when it launches, with the game currently scheduled for release on 19 November 2026 and a further "Extended Look" presentation due on Netflix later this month.
