Grand Theft Auto is one of the world’s best-known video-game series. Made by Rockstar Games, it lets players explore large fictional cities while following stories about crime, money and power, and its games are intended for adults.

The last main game, Grand Theft Auto V, came out in 2013 and became one of the best-selling games ever. Its long gap before a follow-up has made the next instalment a major event for both players and the wider entertainment industry.

Netflix is mainly known for television and films, but it has also been expanding into games and other forms of entertainment. Showing a preview of a major game reflects the growing overlap between streaming services, games companies and film-style marketing.
