Rockstar Games has outlined new gameplay features for Grand Theft Auto VI, including character appearance changes, more consequential relationship choices and expanded character switching. The details suggest the studio is aiming for a more reactive, RPG-style experience, potentially affecting how players approach the series’ traditionally chaotic gameplay.

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos’ food, exercise and sleep habits will visibly affect their appearance, while players’ actions will have deeper effects on their relationship than Red Dead Redemption’s honour system. Players will be able to switch seamlessly between the pair, including during vehicle chases, or play together and separately; GTA VI launches on 19 November for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with extended footage due on Netflix on 27 August.
