Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Unveils New Signature Guitar and Marshall Amp

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has launched two new pieces of signature gear: a limited-edition Radiant Red Epiphone "Billie Joe Armstrong" Les Paul Junior guitar and his first-ever signature amplifier with Marshall, the 1959BJA Artist Signature. Both products are designed to reflect the stripped-down, high-impact guitar tone that has defined Green Day's sound since their 1994 breakthrough album Dookie through to their current stadium-sized shows, giving fans access to the specific gear behind his long-running punk aesthetic.

The Epiphone guitar features a bright red finish, a single P-90 PRO pickup, master volume and tone controls, a Lightning Bar wraparound bridge, and a reproduction of Armstrong's signature on the headstock, arriving in a custom hardshell case with a leopard-print interior. The baby-blue Marshall amp, notably the company's first artist signature model in 14 years, is built on Marshall's handwired 1959HW platform and includes a bespoke "Dookie Mod" inspired by the tone Armstrong developed with producer Rob Cavallo, with its colour paying tribute to his famous stickered Fernandes guitar "Blue." The announcement comes amid a busy period for Armstrong, who has also revealed the soundtrack for the film Nimrods (out 31 July) and been performing live with his covers band, The Coverups.
