Green Party leader Zack Polanski is opposing a proposed conference motion declaring Zionism racist and backing a single democratic Palestinian state across historic Palestine. He has described the proposal as a distraction and argued that the party should focus on justice and equality for both Palestinians and Israelis, while ensuring Jewish members are not excluded or treated differently because of their views or affiliations.

The motion, submitted by artist Lubna Speitan with support from Greens for Palestine, calls for the Greens to become an anti-Zionist party and endorses boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel. It alleges that Zionism has produced an apartheid system and supports Palestinian rights including the right of return; its wording and slogan “from the river to the sea” have been criticised as antisemitic, while its author is reported to oppose describing Hamas as a terrorist organisation.
