Gregg Sulkin Says “It Took Three Seconds” To Return To Mason Greyback For ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Finale: “All I Had To Do Was Look At Selena”

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Actor Gregg Sulkin has spoken about returning to play werewolf Mason Greyback in the finale of "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place," the Disney sequel series to "Wizards of Waverly Place." He told Deadline that slipping back into the role after more than a decade felt instantaneous, largely thanks to reuniting with former co-star Selena Gomez, and reflected on the enduring bond between his character and Gomez's Alex Russo despite the show's current storyline having her married to someone else.

Sulkin appears in the second of four concluding episodes alongside Gomez and Jennifer Stone, reprising Harper Finkle. In the plot, Mason reveals he is dead and, along with Harper, is guiding Alex out of a limbo state she entered after sacrificing herself to save her family at the end of series two. Sulkin described Mason as "always Alex's rock" and said he remained open throughout the show's three-season run to reprising the character, which originally ran on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012.
