Grim discovery in search for missing grandmother after her decomposing body is found in a tank on rural NSW property

Daily Mail ·

Yvonne Whear, a 73-year-old grandmother who disappeared from northern New South Wales in February, has been identified as the woman found in a livestock treatment tank on a rural property. Police are investigating her death as a homicide, after months of searching for her and her vehicle.

Whear was last seen on CCTV in Murwillumbah on 19 February, buying orange juice and adding credit to her phone before driving towards her hobby farm near Dungay. Her phone’s final signal was detected the next morning; in September, her gold Ford Escape was found submerged in the Rous River. She was involved in a long-running farm lease dispute and was due to attend a tribunal hearing, but investigators have not said whether it is connected to her death.
