Ground beef tariff cut, record Tesla recall, Coventry’s Premier League return spoiled

President Donald Trump said the United States would waive above-quota tariffs on up to 300,000 metric tonnes of imported ground-beef products for 90 days, presenting the measure as an attempt to ease high grocery prices. He said there was a commitment for the beef to be sold at 25% below prevailing market prices, though the countries involved and the detailed terms were not announced. The proposal drew objections from cattle producers and some Republican lawmakers, who argued that additional imports could weaken domestic cattle prices; its eventual effect on retail prices remains uncertain.
In China, Tesla announced its largest recall in the country, covering about 2.98 million imported and locally made Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X vehicles from 25 September. Regulators said emergency door-release mechanisms could be hard to identify after a serious crash or electrical failure; Tesla’s remedy includes labels and an over-the-air update. In football, Coventry City’s first Premier League match for 25 years ended in a 3-0 defeat at defending champions Arsenal, with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard scoring. Coventry manager Frank Lampard described the match as a lesson for his newly promoted side.
