Grupo Mórbido founder and CEO Pablo Guisa has joined two Latin American genre films as producer after they won the Mórbido Co-Production Award at the Costa Rica Media Market, a sign of the relaunched market's growing standing as a hub for genre filmmaking. The award brings a company investment of 10–20% of each project's budget, with Guisa involved from creative development through to financing, giving the region's horror filmmakers access to international expertise and connections.

The two projects, "Greetings from Maryland" by El Salvador's Ricardo B'atz' and "What Lives in the Storm" by Miguel Angel Ferrer, both emerged from the Fantastic Lab Central America & Caribbean, a genre development initiative launched last year by the Fantastic Pavilion, the Costa Rica Media Market and Grupo Mórbido. The programme's first edition drew 55 regional submissions, shortlisted 15 for intensive development and named six finalists at Cannes. "Greetings from Maryland" follows undocumented workers who unleash a cursed entity while demolishing a house, while "What Lives in the Storm" is set to be shot near Limón, Costa Rica.
