‘GTA 6’ Extended Look Tops Netflix Charts With 31.1 Million Views in Four Days

Variety · 11 hours ago

Netflix's exclusive extended look at "Grand Theft Auto 6" became the streaming platform's most-watched title in a single week, drawing 31.1 million views between its release on 27 August and 30 August. The 27-minute special, sourced entirely from in-game PlayStation 5 footage, represents a new type of content for Netflix and topped the English-language film chart in 87 of the 93 countries the streamer tracks, underlining the enormous public appetite for Rockstar Games' long-awaited title ahead of its 19 November launch.

Netflix had just six hours of exclusivity before Rockstar posted the same footage to YouTube, where it has since surpassed 17 million views on the publisher's own channel, though the two platforms measure views differently. The special showcases protagonists Jason and Lucia across cinematic and gameplay sequences set in the fictional Vice City, offering the most extensive glimpse of the game so far after two earlier trailers. It comfortably outperformed other Netflix content that week, including "The Whisper Man" (23.2 million views) on the film chart and the documentary "Death of the Pastor's Wife" (19 million views) atop the TV chart.
