GTA 6 gameplay footage and map appear to leak online, as group seemingly responsible makes demands of Rockstar
What appears to be genuine gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto 6, along with an image purporting to show the game's full map, has leaked online. A group calling itself CyberLeek has claimed responsibility, framing the leak as an act of protest over "Gamers' Rights" amid the shift away from physical game discs, and reportedly issued demands to Rockstar and other publishers, warning that "no one is safe" if it can breach a company as large as Rockstar. The leak matters both because it offers an early, unauthorised look at one of gaming's most anticipated titles and because it raises fresh questions about corporate security ahead of a major scheduled reveal.
The footage shows co-protagonist Jason driving a truck and attacking a civilian, and separately relaxing at a safe house before playing basketball; details such as a six-star Wanted gauge and stamina meter have convinced many observers of its authenticity, though it's unclear if the build is current. The leaked map reportedly depicts Leonida (based on Florida) divided into five counties, with Vice Dale County, home to Vice City (based on Miami), the most detailed. Suspicion has been raised by a cryptocurrency donation QR code embedded in the footage, and CyberLeek's website has since gone offline. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has commented, though many uploads have been taken down, and the leak comes just days before Rockstar's official "Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look" trailer, due on 27 August at 8pm BST.
