GTA 6 hype has it dwarfing all other games’ preorder numbers this decade

Sensor Tower estimates suggest Grand Theft Auto 6 has far more digital preorders than any other game released since 2020, indicating unusually strong anticipation for the long-awaited sequel. Its estimated total is 148 per cent higher than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s, the previous high point cited in the article.

The figures cover digital preorders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, so they are not a complete count of all sales or formats. Physical preorders for other games are excluded, and GTA 6 has no standard physical preorder option; the game is scheduled to launch on 19 November, with a PC version and online features expected later.
