GTA 6 leaker trolls internet straight from prison after long hospital stay

Polygon · 4 weeks ago

Arion Kurtaj, accused of carrying out the major 2023 Grand Theft Auto 6 leak, has reportedly left secure hospital custody and returned to prison in the UK while awaiting trial. The case matters because the leak exposed extensive unfinished footage of one of the games industry’s most anticipated releases, reportedly contributing to Rockstar Games’ decision to reveal the game later that year.

Kurtaj, then 18 and allegedly linked to hacking group Lapsus$, shared 90 videos totalling around 50 minutes of early GTA 6 gameplay after allegedly accessing Rockstar’s systems from a hotel room. Rockstar said the breach cost it $5 million; Kurtaj was charged with 12 offences but was initially deemed unfit for trial and detained in hospital. Posts apparently written by Kurtaj from prison claim associates still hold GTA 6 source code, though this has not been independently verified and the timing of his return to prison remains unclear.

  • GTA 6 leak suspect has reportedly returned to prison.
  • The 2023 breach exposed 50 minutes of unfinished gameplay.
  • Claims about retained source code remain unverified.
