GTA 6 Map Full of Side Quest Time Sinks Netflix Stream Reveals
Rockstar Games used a Netflix presentation to show the first official gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto 6, ahead of its November release. The preview suggests the Vice City-set open world will combine criminal missions and high-intensity chases with numerous optional activities, making exploration and character customisation central to the experience.
Footage included robberies, shoot-outs and vehicle theft alongside beach outings, racing, dirt biking, scooters and urban skydiving. Rockstar says food, exercise, sleep deprivation and extended time on the run will visibly affect protagonists Jason and Lucia’s bodies and appearance; the game is due for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on 19 November.
In short
- GTA 6 gameplay reveals extensive criminal missions and leisure activities.
- Jason and Lucia’s appearance changes through food, exercise and lifestyle.
- GTA 6 launches on 19 November for current-generation consoles.
Steelman: both sides, in good faith
The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.
The case for
A dense mix of optional activities could make Vice City feel more alive and give players freedom to shape their own experience beyond the main missions. Visible effects from food, exercise and time on the run may also deepen character immersion and make exploration feel consequential.
The case against
If optional activities and customisation are too numerous or time-consuming, they could distract from the story and make progression feel padded. Players who prefer a focused crime narrative may also find that managing character routines and appearance adds busywork rather than meaningful choice.
Explained simply
Grand Theft Auto is a long-running series of open-world action games made by Rockstar Games. Players follow characters involved in crime, while also being free to explore fictional cities inspired by real places; Vice City, the setting for the new game, is based on Miami.
Optional activities are tasks and pastimes outside the main story, such as racing or exploring. They can give players more ways to spend time in the world, while character customisation lets players change how protagonists Jason and Lucia look.
The game is planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Its mix of story missions, exploration and optional activities is relevant to players deciding what kind of experience to expect from the next instalment.
