Rockstar Games has confirmed that the next major GTA Online update, the Kortz Center Heist, will launch on 14 July 2026, tasking players with robbing the prestigious Kort Center art museum. The heist centres on mansion owners, who use a new art studio as a preparation room and work through a series of setup missions before the finale, with players able to choose between a loud or stealthy approach — the latter earning significantly more money if suspicion is avoided.

A notable feature is the ability to keep stolen paintings and display them in a mansion, with new artworks added each week to encourage replayability. Many of these paintings contain Easter eggs referencing other Rockstar titles, including apparent nods to Roman's death scene from GTA 4, a Red Dead-style piece, and a crowd scene featuring characters such as CJ from San Andreas and Dutch from Red Dead. The update will also add new cars, with further details promised next week, and it may prove to be the last big GTA Online update before GTA 6 arrives in November 2026, leaving the future of the online mode uncertain.

  • GTA Online's Kortz Center Heist launches on 14 July 2026.
  • Stolen paintings can be displayed and reference past Rockstar games.
  • It may be the final major update before GTA 6.

Rockstar's GTA Online has been running for over a decade, regularly refreshed with paid updates that add missions, vehicles and other content to keep players engaged. Heists, where a group of players work together to plan and pull off a robbery, have long been one of the mode's most popular features, and Rockstar continues to release new ones alongside the game's main single-player instalments.

The Kortz Center Heist is the latest addition, built around a fictional art museum and a mansion property that players can already own in the game. It matters partly because of the timing: it is expected to be one of the last major updates before Rockstar releases GTA 6 later in 2026, which raises questions about how much further support GTA Online will get afterwards.

Separately, Rockstar's games are known for containing hidden references, known as Easter eggs, to its other titles, and its large player community regularly hunts for and shares these online. This update's inclusion of artwork referencing earlier games such as GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption and San Andreas fits that established pattern.
