Grand Theft Auto, often called GTA, is a series of open-world action games made by Rockstar Games. Players take part in fictional crime stories while moving freely around large cities, driving vehicles and completing missions.
The previous main game, Grand Theft Auto V, came out in 2013 and became one of the best-selling video games ever. Its continued popularity, including through its online mode, has kept interest high in the next instalment.
GTA VI is the next main entry in the series and is being developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles. Because the series attracts a very large audience, its release timing is closely watched by game makers, retailers and other publishers.
