Guillermo del Toro has added that he is developing a documentary about the making of “Pan’s Labyrinth”, featuring contributions from Jacob Elordi, Cate Blanchett and Charlie Day. This accompanies his renewed emphasis that the film’s 20th-anniversary 3D conversion used no AI, arguing that hand-made creative decisions protect artistic craft and its transmission between generations.

The film returns to cinemas on 9 October in 3D HDR and 2D HDR, distributed by Cineverse and Fathom 4K under del Toro’s supervision; tickets go on sale on 9 September. First released in 2006, the Spanish Civil War-era fantasy earned $83 million worldwide, received six Oscar nominations and won three, while a 4K restoration screened at Cannes earlier this year.
