Irish punk band Gurriers have been featured on NME's The Cover, a weekly spotlight showcasing emerging artists. The band created an exclusive playlist called "Favourite Film Songs" drawing from their love of cinema, featuring tracks from films including Eraserhead, Batman Forever and Lost In Translation. This comes ahead of the release of their second album, "Nobody's Coming To Save You".

The playlist includes songs by Elliott Smith, Dead Kennedys, Wolf Alice, U2 and Sufjan Stevens, available on Apple Music and Spotify. In interviews with the publication, band members discussed reclaiming their name—guitarist Mark MacCormack explained that whilst "gurriers" traditionally carries negative connotations, the band use it to represent community and self-acceptance. Bassist Charlie McCarthy described the group as "an extension of our anger", with frontman Dan Hoff noting that the upcoming album, centred on "dreams, decay and desire", channels political rage and calls for collective action against systemic oppression.
