GWAR confirm first video game collaboration in more than 30 years

NME · 2 hours ago

GWAR have confirmed their first video game collaboration in more than three decades, following their memorable appearance in 1994's Beavis & Butt-Head: The Game. The heavy metal shock rockers will feature in the Antarctica Scumbags expansion for Mutant Football League 2, marking a notable return to gaming for the band after a long gap that saw their music appear in titles such as Guitar Hero 5 and Backyard Wrestling 2, but no direct crossover of this kind.

Playable GWAR characters in the expansion include Blöthar The Berserker, BälSäc The Jaws 'O Death, iZMak Da Gusha, Grodius Maximus, Beefcake The Mighty, Sawborg Destructo and Bonesnapper, described by developers as among the most brutal teams in the game. The Antarctica Scumbags expansion, which also adds a new GWAR-themed stadium packed with lore and Easter eggs, is due for release in October 2026. The announcement comes as GWAR prepare to re-release the Devin Townsend-produced album Beyond Hell ahead of a US tour, also in October.
