The incident, which Sangha recorded and shared online, sparked a wider debate about religious accommodation and staff training around articles of faith that can be mistaken for weapons, prompting the gym to publicly acknowledge its error.

Video of the confrontation showed staff confronting Sangha about the blade before asking him to leave the premises, despite the kirpan being a religious item rather than a weapon carried for aggressive purposes. Following backlash after the footage circulated, the gym issued what has been described as a groveling apology to Sangha, acknowledging the mistake in how the situation was handled.
