"Hadestown: The Musical," Bleecker Street's West End stage-to-screen recording, has become the highest-grossing live theatre capture ever released in cinemas, overtaking Disney's "Hamilton". The milestone came in its second weekend, helping independent releases contribute strongly to one of the biggest overall box office weekends on record, alongside studio blockbusters such as "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and "The Odyssey".

"Hadestown" took $2 million across 1,567 screens in its second week, lifting its cumulative total to $18.2 million and placing it sixth at the domestic box office, after opening the previous weekend to $9.7 million on 1,949 screens. It surpasses "Hamilton", which reached roughly $17 million domestically ($4 million more internationally) following a September 2025 theatrical release marking the show's tenth Broadway anniversary, despite having already streamed on Disney+ since July 2020. Elsewhere on the specialty chart, A24's "The Invite" passed $20 million in its seventh week, Magnolia's "I Want Your Sex" opened to $600,000, and limited releases included Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "The Samurai And The Prisoner" and Penny Lane's owl documentary "Wild Inside".
