Halo Studios appears to be hinting at a remake of Halo 2 through secret ending scenes in Halo: Campaign Evolved, its new reimagining of the original Halo. The tease matters because it suggests Xbox may be planning a broader return to the series’ early campaigns, although no Halo 2 remake has been officially announced.

Players who finish Campaign Evolved on Legendary unlock a scene in which Sergeant Johnson says, “See you in the sequel”, while a separate post-credits sequence shows 343 Guilty Spark travelling towards a planet, seemingly setting up Halo 2’s events. Halo 2 originally launched in 2004 and was remastered for The Master Chief Collection in 2014; Campaign Evolved launches on 28 July 2026, though early-access edition buyers can already play it. Reports also say a separate Halo multiplayer project, codenamed Ekur and developed by Certain Affinity, was recently cancelled.
