Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau & Simu Liu Join Elizabeth Banks-Led Apple Comedy Series

Deadline · 4 weeks ago

Apple TV's untitled half-hour comedy series led by Elizabeth Banks has expanded its cast with the additions of Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau and Simu Liu in recurring roles, adding further star power to a project already anchored by Ted Danson and Katey Sagal. The show, created by Liz Heldens and Matt Ward and produced by 20th Television, follows Banks's character Heidi as she navigates a fresh divorce while trying to build a new life for herself and her children, with the plot complicated by her involvement in her father's romantic exploits at his retirement community.

Linklater will play Evan, Heidi's ex-husband; Buteau takes on the role of Melissa, an advertising executive; and Liu will appear as Dr Zhou, a doctor treating Heidi's son. They join previously announced cast members Rob Delaney, Jared Goldstein and Spencer Moss, alongside Danson and Sagal. Filming is set to begin in Los Angeles later this year, with Jonathan Krisel directing the pilot and Banks executive producing through her Brownstone Productions banner alongside Max Handelman and Krissy Wall.
