Nashville musician Hannah Cole has announced her debut album Switchbacks, arriving in September 2026 through Tight Knit Records. Recorded in collaboration with frequent partner Josef Kuhn between 2024 and 2025, the album represents Cole's progression following her 2023 and 2024 EPs. The production involved Cole playing most instruments herself, with mixing handled by Sonny Diperri, who has worked with bands including American Football.

The lead single 'MMA' combines textured, abrasive guitars with heavy percussion in a style reminiscent of 1990s shoegaze, while Cole's vocals maintain a brighter, softer quality. The track draws thematic inspiration from Joan Didion's novel Play It As It Lays alongside imagery of Las Vegas and music industry struggles, with lyrics exploring themes of chance and knowing when to step away.
