Hansal Mehta, Siddharth Bodke on ‘Scam 2010’ as First Look Unveiled for SonyLIV Series: ‘A Story About Ambition, Influence and Arrogance’ (EXCLUSIVE)
SonyLIV has unveiled the first look of “Scam 2010”, the next instalment in its Indian financial-scandal drama franchise, starring Siddharth Bodke and directed by Hansal Mehta. The series will dramatise the rise and fall of Sahara India Pariwar founder Subrata Roy, examining ambition, influence and the collapse of public belief in a major business empire.
Based on Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book “Sahara: the Untold Story”, the show follows Roy, whose conglomerate operated across sectors including finance, real estate, media and insurance. Roy faced allegations of financial wrongdoing in the early 2000s, was arrested in 2014 and died in 2023; Sony Pictures Networks India chief Gaurav Banerjee said he believed a legal challenge from Sahara had been resolved. The production follows “Scam 1992” and “Scam 2003”, is currently filming and will stream exclusively on SonyLIV.

Subrata Roy founded Sahara India Pariwar, a large Indian business group with interests in finance, property, media, insurance and other sectors. The company became widely known through schemes that collected money from large numbers of small investors.
Regulators later questioned whether some of these schemes had followed financial rules and whether investors had been properly repaid. Roy was arrested in 2014 in connection with a long-running case involving the Securities and Exchange Board of India, and he remained a prominent and controversial figure until his death in 2023.
The new drama is part of a SonyLIV series of programmes based on major Indian financial controversies. It draws on a book by journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay and presents a fictionalised account of the business empire and the disputes surrounding it.
