The fourth instalment of the Harold & Kumar franchise is in active development with all key players returning to the project. Producer Greg Shapiro announced at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival that the original cast members John Cho and Kal Penn, alongside the writing team, have committed to the upcoming comedy sequel, signalling strong confidence in the project's viability.

The production is currently in the screenplay phase, with Shapiro indicating that filming could commence in the near term. The confirmation represents progress for a franchise that has remained dormant for over a decade, with the announcement suggesting momentum has built around bringing the stoner buddy comedy series back to audiences.
